About the cause
The Inspirational Women Awards New Zealand is an initiative created to celebrate and elevate women whilst raising awareness around domestic violence.
The Otago Inspirational Women Awards has been created in partnership with the family violence charities of Otago and Central-Lakes region.
These are: The Women's Refuge & Central Lakes Family Services.
All of the proceeds will be going to the Women's Refuge Lower-South specifically the branches Gore & Clutha Women's Refuge Te Whare Piringa O Marua Wai (Affiliated) and Te Whare Pounamu Dunedin Women's Refuge (Affiliated) and Central-Lakes Family Services.
It is our hope, that by having this event annually we can raise enough money for a safe house right here in Queenstown, as well as helping the Women's Refuge providing safe nights for women in the wider Otago community.
We hope that this event will encourage women who are experiencing family violence to be less afraid to speak out and get help, and by spreading awareness and raising funds play a part in reducing the horrifying violence statistics that darken our beautiful country.
About the venue
The 2023 event will be held at the The Rydges Lakeland Resort Queenstown in the Bazaar Restaurant on Saturday November 25th, 2023.

"Our Refuge hosts in the Otago region quite often have to do quite a bit of traveling. Often they are picking up clients and taking them to the appointments they need to get to and providing crisis support 24hrs a day. Not very exciting but it all costs. A fundraising event like this one would help cover these costs in the community. "-The Women's Refuge
